2013 Reading List

My plan for 2013 is to read 30 books this year…didn’t quite hit that mark in 2012, so here’s to hoping I can do so this year!

I’ve already read my first book:

Safe Haven Book Cover

Technically I listened to it and didn’t “read” it. Once again I found myself wanting to read a Nicholas Sparks book because it is about to hit movie theaters.  I made a quick trip down to Austin right before Christmas and wanted to pass the time in the car with a book so I decided to go with Safe Haven.  It wasn’t that much longer then a trip down to Austin and back so it seemed perfect.

It wasn’t bad and was a very quick read.  Before starting the book, I had no idea what the book was about, but as I read I couldn’t help but think this was “Sleeping With the Enemy.”  Safe Haven should be an interesting movie.  And staring Josh Duhamel how could you not go see it?

A Sweethaven Christmas

2nd Book of 2013

Next up I plan to finish the Sweethaven triology and just started reading A Sweethaven Christmas by Courtney Walsh.  I absolutely loved the first two books and cannot wait to read this one and find out what happens next in the lives of these 4 long time friends back in their home town.

Throughout the year I’ve been downloading books like crazy and stocking my Kindle library full of future reads.  I’m not sure where I’ll start after A Sweethaven Christmas.

A few books on my list are:

A Casual Vacancy by J. K. Rowling

The Paris Wife by Paula McLain

Born to Be Brad by Brad Goreski

Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen

The Impact Equation by Chris Brogan & Julien Smith

What will you be reading this year?  Got any suggestions for my 2013 Reading List?

  1. Hi Kate, I have a list of 12 classic books I want to read this year. But, I haven’t even started, yet. I figure having the list is a good start. Good luck with your reading goals.

    • That reminds me I want to read the Great Gatsby. Loved that book back in high school and with the movie remake, I need a refresher. Best of luck to you on your reading goals for 2013!

  2. I just saw you were on goodreads… I use that to track my (giant) TBR pile…. Here is my list for the January – March …

    January
Book of a Thousand Days – FINISHED
    Altered
    Gathering Dark – REREAD
    The Book Thief
Throne of Glass – 4 novellas – FINISHED

    February
    My Life Next Door
    Beautiful Creatures
    Rebecca
    The Shattered Mountain (novella)
    Delirium -REREAD
    Pandemonium -REREAD

    March
    Edith Wharton’s Mythology
    Pandemonium -REREAD
    Requiem
    Raven – Delirium novella
    Grave Mercy -REREAD

I just recently read Garden SPells and Casual Vacancy from your list.

    • Dang! That is quite a list I’m impressed! How did you like Garden Spells? A friend of mine introduced me to Sarah Addison Allen and it was love at first sight. I absolutely love her writing and storytelling abilities. I can’t wait to read this next one! I’m trying to space out her books since she only has 4 now, but I hear another one is on the way!

      • I loved Garden Spells. So much so that I think I need to have a little Garden Spells party. I did it a few times in 2012 – with books I loved – it was lots of fun!

  3. I loved The Casual Vacancy. Very sad and adult compared to Harry Potter. But Rowling’s storytelling ability is just as captivating, along with her characters.

Also loved The Paris Wife. Enjoyed so much more than actually reading Hemingway.

Garden Spells I read a while ago. Don’t remember much except being unimpressed.

Those other two I might have to check out.

Books so far on my list for this year:

    The Book of Business Awesome
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (currently reading)
    The Night Circus
    Mrs. Kennedy and Me

    • I’ve had Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close on my Kindle for awhile now, but for some reason I keep putting off actually reading it. I should probably put it on my list for this year. I have the Book of Business on my Kindle as well. I love Scott Stratten and need to get to reading this; thanks for reminding me of it!
