Since the weather is starting to warm up. . .I decided to make the switch to white wines. . .I used to be a big Chardonnay drinker but after finally experience red wines I became a convert. . .but have often thought that in warmer weather a chilled wine would be nice and refreshing. . .hence the reluctant leap to whites. . .

Tonight’s wine was the Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc. . .I’ve heard good things about the Cakebread Chardonnay and read online that their Sauv Blanc was good and actually found it at the liquor store.
I have to say, I’m not sure I really had it chilled enough to experience this wine to its fullest. . .but I bought another Sauv Blanc for next week and will be sure that it is chilled enough to be enjoyed at the correct temperature.
I’m not sure I am 100% sold on the Sauv Blanc just yet. . .this one was very dry and not quite what I was expecting. . .but if you are a fan of dry wines I would definitely say go for it. I was expecting a fruitier flavor than this wine offered.
Maybe next week’s cheaper version will be more up my alley. . .it will be the BV Coastal Estates Sauvignon Blanc, if you come across a bottle pick it up and drink it with me.

Tonight was the opening play for this season of the Dallas Summer Musicals. I have never been a fan of the TV show Happy Days but the musical was cute! Though I’m not so sure anyone else plays the Fonz quite as well as Henry Winkler.

I liked that it moved along really fast and we actually got out earlier than normal. . .it will make waking up for work a lot easier tomorrow.
But now we’ll see just how long I hear the theme song playing through my mind:
These days are all,
Share them with me. (Those Happy Days)
These days are all,
Happy and Free. (oh baby)
These Happy Days are your’s and mine.
These Happy Days are your’s and mine, Happy Days.
(Just in case you didn’t know the lyrics to the chorus!)
I would definitely recommend this musical but would say. . .don’t go out of your way to see it!

Three day weekend are a-mazing! I’m sure if they happened more often I would want four day weekends. . .but still a girl can dream that they happen more often, can’t she?
I did my best to relax and take it easy this weekend and I think I was successful but still had a good time.
Though, if the weekend were a little longer, I might have actually finished this season of 24. . .talk about intense and I still have about 8 hours left of the season. . .who would have guessed that there would be an attack on the White House or that Tony Almeida would be back? I can’t wait to see how it all ends. . .please, don’t tell me!

Beth and I were good daughters and went with Mom to see 17 Again even though we had both seen it and I was a little surprised she liked it so much.
The thing I’m most excited about it is I have had these 4 boxes and 1 bag sitting under my window in my bedroom since I moved in almost three years ago and spent a good chunk of time cleaning those out. I’m got rid of 2 boxes and the bags and feel very successful. . .not too much more.
I finally bit the bullet and bought myself some new fluffy pillows and I am excited to try them out tonight. But why are pillows so expensive? These better be comfortable!
Don’t forget to check out Lincee’s blog tomorrow for her Bachelorette recap. . .can’t wait to hear what she has to say about foot fetish Tanner P!

Over the last couple years I think the networks have been improving their summer shows so that we aren’t bored from May to September.

Last summer I discovered, So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD). But. . .I didn’t start watching it until it was over half way through and got addicted. I’ve never gotten into Dancing With the Stars but this show is very addicting.
It will be interesting to watch this show from start to finish this year. . .and tonight there were definitely quite a few interesting and odd dancers. . .and next week’s episode promises equally interesting auditions. Here are a few of my favorite dances from last year:

Although, this is one of my favorite summer reality show. . .it isn’t my number one because while this was is entertaining nothing can compare to the greatness that is Flipping Out starring Jeff Lewis. . .I can’t wait for that show to come back on. I just wish I knew when it was starting. . .in case you aren’t familiar with Jeff Lewis he is an OCD house flipper in California. . .here is just a little glimpse at his unique personality from last season. . .

337 – Cabernet Sauvignon
So, my friend Meredith had a little accident over the weekend with a slip-n-slide and broke. . .her foot or her ankle. . .not quite sure yet. Since it is wine o. Wednesday, I decided to take my wine over to her house and check on her.
I had a bit of a dilemma trying to figure out what wine I wanted to drink tonight. I am almost afraid to try new wines because I have so many favorites. That’s the problem with wine. . .there are so many variations of each different kind. . .so many options.
I remembered that a friend of mine had suggested 337 a while back and they just happened to have a bottle at the place where I stopped.
We both seemed to agree that this wine was rather bitter. I am thinking it definitely needed an aerator or to sit open and breath for quite a while. All of the flavors still seemed to be wrapped up tight and not quite ready to smoothly good down.
In short. . .if I get this one again I’m going to open it and drink it a couple days later, but at least I tried a new wine.
Tonight, the company was most definitely more enjoyable than the wine.

I am so excited for my friend Krista and her husband Kris. . .their little girl Kambelle Bryn was born today!

I went by the hospital after work to meet her because I just couldn’t wait, and I figured why not the hospital is only a few minutes from my house. Mommy, baby and daddy are all doing well.
Fortunately they already sent out a picture because, as it turns out, I didn’t forget to charge my camera battery. . .the lens seems to be dead and the only picture I got was from my camera phone. Hope you don’t mind I borrowed your picture Krista!
Congratulations!

I was so bummed I forgot to make sure my camera battery was charged and wasn’t able to take any pictures Saturday night when we celebrate Lacee & Mai’s birthdays Korean Style.

We went to Seoul Garden for Korean BBQ. Our table lucked out cause we had Beans, who just graduated from Le Cordon Bleu and we put her to work at the “grill.”

Then we headed to Norazo for Korean karaoke. This place was in the middle of nowhere behind a bunch of warehouses. We got there around 9:30 and left sometime after 1:30 am. . .I think we made our way all the way through the English songs.
I have to say, that I would take Korean karaoke over regular karaoke any day! It was so fun to be in a room with you just a group of your friends, I think almost everyone sang. . .with only a few of the guys not getting up to sing.

I finally got to see Star Trek. I don’t think I’ve ever even watched a single episode of Star Trek before but I heard the movie was really good and wanted to see it. So Mom and I went tonight.
The nice thing about this movie is that you didn’t need to be familiar with Star Trek at all to understand the movie. Plus, it was directed by J.J. Abrams; I tend to like everything he does ever since Felicity.

I was especially impressed with Zachary Quinto’s performance as Spock. In both this and Heroes he does such a good fully embracing his character’s quirks that make them believable.

I had no idea that Eric Bana was in this movie and didn’t realize it was him until his character had been on screen a few times. . .actually it was when his character finally spoke, the first few times you see him his character does not speak.
It was interesting seeing Wynonna Ryder as an old lady, that was a bit surprising because I didn’t realize she was still a working actress.
All and all even if you aren’t a Star Trek fan I definitely recommend this one. There are a few times when the movie seemed a bit slow but I think that was inevitable because some back ground had to be established.

I haven’t been sleeping very well the last week or so and I’m not really sure why. But one remedy I often try is putting a fresh set of sheets on my bed. A freshly made bed is one of my favorite things ever!
So, with that said, now that my sheets are dry. . .I’m off to make my bed. Night, night!

I finally started My Sister’s Keeper, not sure where all my time has gone. . .but by started I mean I am about 25 pages in the book. I got a bit sidetracked as I read thinking about genetic engineering.
On the one hand I can see the need for genetic engineering but on the other hand as the little girl that was genetically engineered said, her life was created for a purpose. . .she wasn’t a surprise. . .
That seems like a lot for a little girl to endure. Her life is dictated by the ups and downs of her sister’s health. I’m definitely thinking this one is going to be a tear jerker.
I’ll keep you posted on the progress. . .

This weekend I made a quick trip down to Houston. I left Saturday around noon and headed down for Sara and Archie’s wedding. Sara is a med school classmate of Adam’s that I have known for the last few years.
I didn’t get a great picture of the bride and groom but here are Sara and Archie heading into the reception:

I was excited to go to this wedding cause I could see everyone before the spread out and start their residencies all over the country.
Here’s my date Bryan:

Adam and Pepe were groomsmen, don’t they look handsome?

I even got to see Adam’s parents, Dick & Petie:

Here’s one last shot of me with Adam and Pepe:

It was a beautiful wedding and a lot of fun! But as always, the weekend went by entirely too fast!

With the departure of Project Runway, the big wigs at Bravo came up with a copycat show, The Fashion Show. This one is hosted by Isaac Mizrahi and Kelly Rowland.

Before the credits even finished, Isaac Mizrahi was already annoying the heck out of me. . .he definitely can’t hold a candle to Tim Gunn.
The workspace and sewing room are highly reminiscent of Project Runway except for the nonexistent Bluefly.com accessory wall.
The challenges are crazy and ridiculous like on Runway. Tonight’s first mini challenge was to turn a black t-shirt into a little black dress in an hour. . .
The winners of the challenge became team captains for the elimination challenge. The captains picked their teammates based on the other dress designs. This challenge was to create an entire cohesive line of clothing for their first Fashion Show with a live audience and guest judge.
This was kind of a snooze fest, I’m hoping it is because I am tired. . .but so far I miss Project Runway. . .
