It’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted about wine o. wednesday, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been drinking wine. It’s because I have been pretty underwhelmed lately with the wine I’ve been drinking lately. Well maybe that’s

When I hear the name Dave Matthews I most certainly do not think of wine. In fact that name takes me back to high school and more specifically, the summer I turned 16. After getting my license, the first time I got to go out

It’s been quite some time since I first tried the Kali Hart Chardonnay by Talbott Vineyards. (You can read about it here.) I thought Chardonnay was the only wine from the Kali Hart line. So naturally I wanted to try the Pinot Noir when I saw it.

I stumbled upon the Mettler Petite Sirah this week and had to buy it. Remember how the Mettler Zinfandel was so impressive? (if not you can read about it here.) Well they did it again with their Petitie Sirah!

I know I blogged about Middle Sister wines twice, Back in 2009. I’ve had it again since then but since I hadn’t tried any new varietals so I hadn’t mentioned them again. On my last trip to Target I just couldn’t resist the adorable packaging when I stumbled upon the Middle Sister Pinot Noir.

When it comes to wine, I don’t think you have to spend a fortune to find a great wine. So when I find an inexpensive wine that I really enjoy I get really excited about it. The Leese-Fitch wines are a good example of this.

Thanks to Twitter I learned about the Kramer Vineyards. Kramer Vineyards is located in Gaston, OR. I’ve been meaning to post this blog for months and sadly am just now getting around to it. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been

I have been a member of the B.R. Cohn wine club for a good 5 or more years and each time I get a new wine club shipment I love them even more. I am convinced, even though I know they would never say this, that I am probably their lamest wine club member to date. I’m never a big spender and I tend to

This was the first Hahn Wine I ever tried. Like I mentioned a few Wine Wednesdays back (see post) I was first introduced to Hahn Wines on one of my early trips to Dee Lincoln’s Restaurant in Uptwown Dallas, and now that I

On Friday we decided to have cousin Happy Hour at our house and we all brought a bottle of wine. I’d been looking for an excuse to stop in the brand new Spec’s that opened right outside my neighborhood. I know some people

Back in the spring I tagged along with Beth to Costco and she picked up a bottle of this wine. Unfortunately since this bottle had a plastic top I immediately wrote it off and didn’t buy a bottle myself. Big mistake!
This Sauvignon Blanc is probably a little on the sweet side as far as Sauvignon Blancs go, but for me I think it is just right and really enjoy it. I think it is very refreshing and a pleasant wine to have around in the summer time. Especially since it is right around $8 at Costco. Who can complain about that?
I loaded up on this wine for Beth’s Bachelorette weekend since our hotel room had a fridge but luckily there were a couple bottles left! Now I’m down to only one bottle. Looks like I may need to tag along on another Costco run soon!
This wine comes from The Other Guys and I think has to be my favorite of their’s so far, after having tried their Pennywise Cabernet Sauvignon and the Sultry Red, Hey Mambo. The tagline of this wine group is: Laid-back guys, stand-out wines. In reference tot he Leese-Fitch Sauvignon Blanc I think it is perfect.
What will be in your wine glass tonight?
Happy Wine Wednesday!

Up until this past weekend I had yet to try out any of the SkinnyGirl Cocktails. In fact I thought there were only two options: margarita or sangria. But while I was at CVS I saw that there are now SkinnyGirl Wines. Way to go on the product placement CVS!
Naturally while I was waiting for a prescription to be filled I was perusing the wine aisle…how else was I going to kill time? On the end cap of the wine aisle was the SkinnyGirl wines, like I said I had no idea those existed. I’ve heard good things about the Sangria, but have yet to actually try it. I believe my CVS only had the California Red or the California White but according to the SkinnyGirl website there is also a Rose.
Now, if you’ve ever looked into the calorie count of a glass of red wine there is a little wiggle room. Depends on the size of the glass and the type of wine that you have selected. But generally the calorie range is 105 calories to 125 calories in a 5 oz serving. The SkinnyGirl wines claim to have only a 100 calories per glass. So as you can see, it doesn’t really beat your favorite glass of red wine by a whole lot.
I am really impressed with this little empire Bethenny Frankel has built and really wanted to like this wine…but to be honest it wasn’t a wine I enjoyed or really want to have again and I was really bummed about that! This wine tasted watery to me…almost like to keep the calorie count down they watered down the wine. But, this hasn’t deterred me, I will still try some of the Ready to Serve Cocktails and even possibly the vodkas. I might even give the White blend a try just to see how it compares to other whites.
The price point on this wine really wasn’t all that bad. I picked it up for $10.99. Have you tried any of the SkinnyGirl Cocktails? What did you think?
