Being an avid reader, most people are shocked to learn that I had never read Harry Potter. Well, after a friend gave me a copy of the book and another friend started a reading group on Goodreads I decided it was time to finally read them. So far I’ve only read the first book, my list of books to read is just too long. But don’t worry I’ve already acquired book two and will begin it shortly I promise! I also haven’t seen any of the Harry Potter movies so I didn’t really know what to expect.
I read through the Sorcerer’s Stone pretty fast and enjoyed it. I am impressed at Rowling’s ability to create such a magical fictional world and the details she included. Especially considering how awful I thought The Casual Vacancy was.
After all I had heard about Harry Potter I just assumed he started out at Hogwarts and had always been a wizard. However, Rowling started the story when Harry was just a baby. It was fascinating to learn along side Harry all that he had within himself and what all he would be able to accomplish. I can definitely understand why so many people were hooked by this series. And I hear it only gets better, so I can’t wait to read the next book.
Did you know it has been 15 years since the first Harry Potter book was released? Scholastic is updating the covers and have already began releasing them.
