wine o. wednesday #85

I stumbled upon the Mettler Petite Sirah this week and had to buy it. Remember how the Mettler Zinfandel was so impressive? (if not you can read about it here.) Well they did it again with their Petitie Sirah!

Met10PS_mainPetite Sirah isn’t a commonly known wine varietal.  It hasn’t really made it’s name as an important player to the common wine drinker.  In fact I rarely stumble upon Petite Sirahs when I am shopping for wine.  Maybe it’s because I’m not looking?  But more likely it is because most stores do not stock many Petite Sirahs if any.

My first glass of the Petite Sirah, I could tell this wine contained a large amount of flavor, but it hadn’t really been opened up enough to expose them all.    I poured the first glass as soon as I opened the bottle so it isn’t any wonder the wine tasted this way, it hadn’t had any time to breath.  For the next glass, well really the rest of the bottle, I poured the wine through an aerator.  It was amazing!

Packed with fruity flavors, this wine had a bold presence with each sip that is reminiscent of a Zinfandel.  No wonder Mettler knows how to make a great bottle of Petite Sirah.  This wine also had a deep, dark color to it.

Mettler-Petite-SirahI have been so impressed with the Mettler wines that you better believe next time I out near wine country I will be stopping by to visit their Vineyard.

If you haven’t tried any Mettler Wines, what are you waiting for?
