wine o. wednesday #91

The thing I have learned over my years of drinking wine, is that it doesn’t have to be expensive to be good.  Sure many of the more expensive wines are delicious, but that doesn’t mean the inexpensive or dare I say “cheap” wines should be ignored.

Here are 5 wines under $10 that I currently enjoy drinking:

5-Summer-Wines-under-$10

These are in no particular order.  But I should say that during the summer I definitely prefer to drink cold wines; Pinot Noirs Sauvignon Blancs and Prosecco.

First up is the Cellar No 8 2011 Pinot Noir

5-Summer-Wines-Cellar-No-5

I don’t know if I’ve ever had a Pinot Noir from Cellar No 8 before but this label looked brand new so I had to try it.  And I was shocked to discover that I did enjoy it.  This bottle runs about $8 a bottle.  Pop it in the fridge and it is ready to go any day this hot summer.

Picton Bay Sauvignon Blanc

5-Summer-Wines-Picton-Bay

I discovered the Picton Bay Sauvignon Blanc on a trip to Trader Joe’s and it has quickly become my favorite Sauvignon Blanc of the moment.  It is nice and tart with a crisp flavor that is refreshing.  Every time I am in Trader Joe’s I pick up a bottle or two.  This one runs $8 a bottle.

Leese Fitch Sauvignon Blanc & Cabernet Sauvignon

5-Summer-Wines-Leese-Fitch

These have been my go to wines for quite a while now.  At first I thought they were only available at Costco but I have since found them at my local grocery store and liquor store.  Now if only I could find the Pinot Noir somewhere!  These wines are right at the $10 limit if you pick them up at the grocery store but at Costco it runs $8 and at Specs it runs $9.

Cupcake Sauvignon Blanc

5-Summer-Wines-Cupcake

I was surprised that I enjoyed this bottle of wine. I’m not normally a fan of Cupcake wines, but this one was good.  I think having a few Sauvignon Blanc options during the summer is a good idea they all seem to have different hints of fruits and varying levels of dryness.  Definitely give this on a try and let me know what you think.  This one runs about $8 a bottle.

What will you be drinking this Wine Wednesday?  Cheers!
