wine o wednesday #23

I have a little confession. . .I kind of cheated this week. Last week when I went on the hunt for white wines to try on my quest to become a white wine drinker again. . .

Prior to my trip to Goody Goody, my friend Matt’s favorite place to look for wines, I had decide that I was going to focus on Sauvignon Blancs. . .since I was lollygagging in the white wine section one of the wine guys came up to me and asked me what I was looking for.

I told him I was trying to rekindle a liking of white wines and he agreed with me that he was more of a red person as well, but. . .if I wanted to try a Chardonnay, he had a suggestion.

I must say. . .at first I was expecting it to be a fancy or expensive suggestion but instead it was the Kali Hart 2007 Chardonnay, Monterrey County. This bottle was about $14, which impressed me because he wasn’t just trying to talk me into an expensive wine. . .

I am definitely thinking that in this Texas summer heat, this could be my new favorite wine. . .it has a fruity aspect to it but it is also more dry like a red wine. . .each night it did get a little sweeter unlike read where I think the flavor becomes a little more blended. Since I haven’t been drinking whites for several years I am not up to speed on their tendencies but I am definitely think that this trend might be the way they go. . .they sweeten until they get sour. . .

Whatever the case, give this Kali Hart Chardonnay a try, I really think you’ll like it. . .I know I do!
