Meet Bailey

I grew up with dogs, we always had one; and we had quite a variety! Our first dog was Herbie, he was a mut, but he was pretty old by the time I knew what a dog was. Next we got Trapper, a beagle, and Gonzo, a chihuah, but I don’t think we had those two that long. Then we got Polo, a Shih Tzu, when some 20121217-211115.jpgfamily friends had a baby and needed to find her a new home. For a few years while we had Polo, we also had a Siberian Husky named Katcha (sp?) but she didn’t last all that long. After Polo passed away we didn’t have another dog for a few years then my mom got a Min Pin named Callie she refers to as my littlest sister.

20121217-211601.jpgI never really thought I wanted a dog on my own, and never really considered it. But when my friends’ Boxer, Lola, got pregnant I knew I wanted one.  I used to try and steal Lola when she was a pup, she was so sweet and cute. She’s an all white boxer with spots all over her.  After Lola was a year old they got Mocha, a reverse brindle boxer. They always had the intention of breeding the dogs, just not as soon as it happened. Late in the day October 25 Lola went into labor and gave birth to 8 healthy and adorable boxer puppies early the next morning. The litter was 7 boys and 1 girl and I claimed the one and only girl before even meeting the puppies. Then I met them and no only did I love the girl, affectionately known as #4 (her birth order) but I also loved #8 or Harry Potter.  Look at those faces, how was I suppose to choose?

Ultimately I went with #4 and decided to call her Bailey.  When I first met her she could fit in one hand:

I know I was lucky to know the breeders, Chaz and Bitner let me come visit her often.  It was fun to watch her grow!  At about three weeks she looked huge and she was still only right around 4 pounds.

I last saw her at about 4 weeks, than when I picked her up at 7 weeks and 2 days.  I got to pick her up a week earlier then originally planned.  And oh my gosh I’m so glad.  I am enjoying every second of the chill puppy stage she appears to be in.  She’s so snuggly and cute!

The day I picked her up we hung out for about 2 hours just the two of us before heading over to my mom’s house to introduce her to Callie and decorate cookies with my nephews.  They were both adorable with her but I only got a picture of Easton and Bailey.  He did so good with her!

20121217-210944.jpgAfter a long day of playing, exploring and moving homes Bailey was wiped out and passed out on the sofa.  She didn’t even whine the first night in her crate.  I was so impressed!  She did however pee in her bed…but I think that was my fault I didn’t make her go the bathroom enough the first day.  I showed her her stuffed bear when we got home and I think it was a hit.

I know I’m not very far into this whole thing, but I sure think I’m going to enjoy having Bailey around!
