St Patty’s Day Greenville Style

Despite the fact that I have lived in Dallas all my life, I have never experienced the Saint Patty’s day festivities on Greenville. . .it was crazy fun!

Brett and I headed down to Greenville around 8:00 am to secure a spot to watch the parade, and I think we got the best spot possible. We were right up against the barricades along Greenville just south of Lovers Lane.
Beth made some fun shirts that she and I and Mai wore:

The spot was perfect for watching the floats go by. Meredith was on the Barry Manilow float and she threw me some really fun beads.

Here are some of my favorite floats. . .who knew there was a mullet club or that so many Aggie’s would be in the parade.
As the floats went by they threw beads, candy, jello shots, t-shirts, cds, etc. The candy kind of freaked me out cause they threw it so hard; when we saw it coming at us, Mai and I would duck and cover to avoid being pelted by it.

After the parade we walked all they down to the block party and I was amazed that so many people could fit in there. . .it was ridiculous. After about 30 minutes of weaving through the crowd to try and find a bathroom or go in a bar we gave it up. It was just entirely too many people. But surprisingly everyone was in such a good mood, if there were fights I didn’t see any. Maybe it was the luck of the Irish? Who knows. . .
