Easy (Tammara Webber) is this month’s selection for my Wine Down Wednesday book club and I actually finished it with time to spare. We decided that our book for this month should be a light read after of all the business that surrounds the holidays. Because this is a young adult novel it was just that, an easy (no pun intended) read.
Easy is the story of a young woman named Jacqueline who followed her high school boyfriend to college only to have him break up with her not long after school starts. Feeling out of place and embarrassed she didn’t follow her own path, Jacqueline is attacked in a dark parking lot after a frat party. Out of nowhere a complete stranger comes to her rescue and gets her home safely. It isn’t until the following Monday that Jacqueline realizes this stranger, Lucas, is in one of her classes. Very slowly and hesitantly these two forge a relationship.
This book deals with the tough subject of rape and how hard but important it can be for victims of rape to step forward. While Jacqueline may not have been raped, thanks to Lucas being in the right place at the right time, she still has to deal with all of the emotions and fear caused by an attack.
Tammara Webber is a great writer who is able to draw you into her novel by creating characters that are both believable and raw. If you are looking for a great read, I would definitely recommend Easy (Tammara Webber).
Look for a prequel to Easy to be released in May of this year!
