Wow. . .I officially feel like a wine-o. . .ten weeks of talking about wine, I’m hoping you’ve tasted along the way. . .and hopefully you tried this one too. . .before I even opened the bottle of Fat Bastard Merlot I learned that typing the name of this wine into an email will get it blocked by some of my friend’s companies’ servers. . .sorry Lacee!
I have to confess that I didn’t actually drink this wine tonight, I am trying to only drink on the weekends for the rest of the month, but after a long hard day a glass of wine really does sound good. And the fact that I have an open bottle of Barefoot Cabernet from the weekend in my kitchen is just cruel.
But, on to tonight’s wine. . .the Merlot. . .I don’t normally select Merlots, it isn’t really my favorite type of wine because to me it doesn’t really stand out, it just sort of exists. This particular wine wasn’t that different to me than other Merlots.
I think because Merlots don’t have an overwhelming taste, like a Zinfandel or a Pinot Noir, they are a good compliment to almost any food. Though a true wine snob might be appalled by that comment, it’s just my opinion. I definitely recommend this one if you want to branch out and Merlot’s aren’t your thing. It isn’t too pricey, right around $10 and it isn’t too bad to drink. I think almost anyone would enjoy it.
Next week’s wine will be the House Wine, red. It is another one that is right around $10. I’ve seen it at World Market and at the Kroger by me. . .so pick up a bottle and drink along.

As my first night drinking along (well, not technically, but whatever)… and I like this one! I’m not a huge Merlot fan, but this one was pretty good. Although, as usual, it was about $4 more here than it is in Big D, it wasn’t bad… I think the hippo on the bottle is kind of funny, and so is the story on the back. I won’t spoil it for others… just get it! And enjoy!
