I know, summer reading probably dredges up memories of those summer reading assignments back in high school. But now when it comes to summer reading I can’t wait! In a perfect world the majority of my summer reading would take place on a beach somewhere like when I went to the Dominican 2 years ago and read 5 or 6 books in a week…but I don’t see that happening. It is more likely my reading this summer will take place on the weekends at my neighborhood pool.
My “To Read” list on Goodreads has grown to 75 books and I know there are still more I haven’t added. But here are the books I plan to tackle this summer:
1. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson
I am actually currently reading this book now on my Kindle. I’ve been just entirely too busy to make more than about 2 pages of progress this past week. But from what I hear this book is hilarious and a great read! So I am really looking forward to actually reading it.
This is a memoir type read I believe. I know it looks like all I read is Chicklit books but I love reading memoirs and biographies because they allow you insight into who the person really is.
2. Girls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close
I don’t remember how I found this book to add to my list on Goodreads, but my sister read it and said it was a good easy read. Plus, I have yet to check a book out from the library on my Kindle and this one is available for that so I’m excited to try that out.
3. Sisterhood Everlasting by Ann Brashares
I feel a little silly still reading the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books, but I want to know how everything turns out! I’ve always enjoyed this series from Brashares and though it is probably time for it to wrap up it does seem a little sad.
Fortunately in this book the girls are all grown up, working and living life far away from each other. They now have to figure out how to incorporate their friendship into their adult lives.
4. The Singles by Meredith Goldstein
I found this book over at Chick Lit Central. Warning, you will find more books then you can read on that site, they’ve got so many great suggestions. Just popping over their to double check this is where I found this book I found a couple more books I want to read…oops!
Goldstein is the Boston Globe’s Love Letter columnists; her debut novel deals with that social dilemma of attending a wedding alone. This should be very entertaining!
5. Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
I’ve had this book on my Kindle for months and have yet to read it. I think I’m a little intimidated by how long the book is. But I have heard nothing but great things about this book and despite how long it is, it is actually a pretty quick read.
Those are the top five books I want to read this summer so I can scratch a few books off my list. Though I keep hearing about Shades of Grey so I may just bite the bullett and read those…we’ll have to see how much pool time I get in!
What’s on your summer reading list?
Hopefully Creative Chaos made the list if you haven’t already read it! Don’t forget it is only available in paperback on this site! But it is also available on the Kindle and the Nook. And if you have read it, I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I would be ever so greatful if you could take a couple minutes and review Creative Chaos! You can review it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or even Goodreads. Or comment on this post. I’d love to hear what you thought! Plus the reviews help word spread about Creative Chaos!
