wine o. wednesday #71

Last week while I was in Boston, Adam and I stopped and picked up a few bottles of wine on our way home from dinner at Oishii my first night there. These days Adam is strictly a white wine drinker and I had no objections.  When summer time rolls around I’d prefer a nice cool refreshing glass of wine and it’s the perfect excuse to try some new white wines!

Here are the 3 bottles we picked up (I should apologize for the poor photography in this post, I took these pics last minute before I headed out to the airport):

This first one was one I picked up, and really I just grabbed it because I figured we might need an extra bottle and it was on sale…now I know why.   It smells like really bad B.O., tasty huh?  We still worked are way through this bottle but with quite a few laughs.  I’d never heard of Line 39 before and I’m not sure I’ll try any of their other varietals after my encounter with their Sauvignon Blanc.

Next up was Adam’s selection, it was Pine Ridge‘s Chenin Blanc and Vognier.  This was a very nice wine I thought. The Chenin Blanc helped cut the sweetness of the Voginer; I think I’ve got that right.  The only Voginer I’ve had I remember being sweet and to my knowledge I’ve never had a Chenin Blanc unless it was blended in something else.  But this was great pick, I’d really like to find a bottle here in Texas and have it again.

Last but not least was the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. I grabbed this one because I like their Pinot Noir.  It was good.  Not my most favorite Sauvignon Blanc I’ve ever had but definitely not the worst either.  Is it just me or do you think of Cindy Crawford when you see this wine?

Now to decide what to have tonight for Wine Wednesday…what’s going to be in your glass?
