BYOB Scene

The last few weeks we’ve been checking out BYOBs in the Dallas area. It is a great way to save some money and a good way to try the wines you want.

We’ve been to both of the Campisi’s BYOB restaurants. Camipis’s never disappoints; they offer the best pizza and salad. Both BYOB locations are laid back and not too crowded.

I missed the weekend when Matt and Lacee went to Zorbas. It’s a Greek restaurant close to their house. They both said it was really good so hopefully I can talk them into going back with me so that I can try it out.

Last weekend we went to Campani. The salad and pizza were good, but we were surprised by a $5 corking fee. If it was on the menu none of us noticed it, nor did our waiter tell us about it, the fee was just listed on the bill. In fact when I google BYOB places even today the lists that include Campani say there is no corking fee. Because of that fee I’m not sure I want to go back.

This week we went to Babe’s. Babe’s Chicken Dinner House has 7 locations around the area, every things is served family style with free refills on vegetables and buttermilk biscuits. They had best chicken fried steak and chicken fingers. Nothing was disappointing and we left completely stuffed.

Know of any good BYOB’s? We are always on the lookout.

  1. WELL… I hope you’re ready to try out Giovanni’s in Frisco in a few weeks when I’m back in Big D! I called to specifically ask about a corking fee and there’s NONE. 🙂 And every review I’ve read says great things about the food… Get ready to judge for yourself!
