grace & peace

My friend Decker signs all of her emails with this phrase and tonight I heard the same word combination used by another friend.

Tonight’s encounter with these two words really made me think. I decided to go to dictionary.com and look up each word and find out their actual meanings.

Grace:
to honor or favor
a pleasing or attractive quality or endowment
favor or good will
mercy; clemency; pardon

Peace:
a state of mutual harmony between people or groups, esp. in personal relations
cessation of or freedom from any strife or dissension
freedom of the mind from annoyance, distraction, anxiety, an obsession, etc.
a state of tranquility or serenity

With it being Christmas and all, what better time to extend grace and peace to everyone we encounter. Whether it is the cranky sales clerk, the grumpy old man who bumps into you at the mall or your bickering relatives. . .try putting these words to practice. . .

That’s my plan!

ornaments

And with that, grace and peace to you. . .
